Williams-Sonoma Starts Furniture Operations in Catawba County
Published Apr 28, 2008

Williams-Sonoma picked Hickory as its newest site for manufacturing upholstered furniture. The company expects to hire 820 new people for the jobs and says it picked Catawba County based on its highly skilled workforce and history of furniture-making in the region.

Sutter Street Manufacturing, a subsidiary of Williams-Sonoma, expects to pay an average yearly salary of $42,000 for the jobs, which is higher than the county average of $33,332.

The new manufacturing, distribution and development center represents an investment of approximately $2.7 million over the next five years.
